HERE'S WHAT'S WRONG WITH
THE DOUG FORD CONSERVATIVES

CHAPTER 2: MIS-EDUCATION

Doug Ford says that he wants our young uns to learn readin’, ritin’ and rithmetic. Back to the basics. What does that look like? Here’s what we do know so far.

Ford wants: an outdated sex-ed curriculum that offers less information to children than they might need.

Don’t we want all our children to know about preventing sexually transmitted diseases, birth control and where to go if they have questions about their sexuality or sexual orientation? Would we rather have fewer teenage pregnancies or more?

Ford wants: want larger class sizes for high school students from 22 to 28 students per class.

Wouldn’t you rather students have an environment where they can all learn, and if some need special attention, they would get it? Or would you like to have high schools where everybody gets less attention and a poorer education because the teacher is just too busy?

Ford wants: to shift the responsibility of looking after kids with special needs to school boards and teachers, while offering them a fraction of the money they were already paying to support children with autism spectrum disorders and other learning disabilities.

This makes no sense. How does cutting funding turn into "support for education"?

Larger class sizes, less information and more demands on teachers and school boards.

Oh yeah, back to basics. Maybe we could just move back to one-room schoolhouses while we’re at it.

Stand Up. Fight Back. Don’t Give Up.
